Jack Ruby, small time Dallas "businessman" liked the limelight. He ran a strip joint, and delighted in hobnobing with Dallas media personalities
and city big wigs. Reputedly connected with the mob and involved in shady ventures, he was a known character in Dallas' seedy, soft underbelly. And it was this Jack Ruby who dashed all hope of solving the mystery of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy when he gunned down prime suspect Lee Harvey Oswald.

Gary DeLaune was a young newsman for KLIF radio news in Dallas during those dark hours of November 1963. He also had a personal connection to the shooting of Oswald, because Jack Ruby was looking for DeLaune when he first visited the police department on November 22, 1963. Ruby never found him.

Here then is a brief history of the second rate celebrity who wanted to become a hero by killing Lee Harvey Oswald.
