There is a well known maxim, usually attributed to Football Coach Vince Lombardi, that "winning
isn't everything; it's the only thing." However, in the decades since World War II, America's wars
have not had the same clearly defined resolutions. To discuss the significance of this, the Museum's
2010 Symposium will focus on "The Termination of War." A review will be given of various wars'
endings from World War I to the present, along with the factors and policy considerations involved.
On this interactive CD-ROM, you will hear historians present overviews of conflicts from WWII to
Vietnam and present day actions. Then veterans of these various conflicts share their personal
experiences. Program Director Helen McDonald recently stated that "this year's program will offer
the opportunity to hear from veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and up through the Gulf War,
as well as a truly remarkable gathering of authors and historians."
