With legislation expanding the National Primary Election system, Ronald Reagan's bid for the 1976 Republican Presidential nomination got a shot in the arm. The national news media had a new means of taking the pulse of the people as the primaries were conducted in an increasing number of states. Ronald Reagan, the Great Communicator, took full advantage of this new exposure. Challenging the popular Jerry Ford, Reagan put on a full court press, attacking the incumbent's position on national defense. He called on his close friend, fellow motion picture actor John Wayne, to assist in his campaign. These two radio commercials aired in 1976, and Reagan's success in the primaries soared. The surge came just a little too late to wrest the nomination from Ford, but but it paved the way for Reagan's decisive electoral victory in 1980. Your total price will be $9.00 with shipping.
