The National Museum of the Pacific War is honored to present this symposium on the battles of Midway and Guadalcanal. These battles were both rays of hope and moral boosters following a grim series of Allied defeats during the first six months of the Pacific War. Noted authors and historians, as well as veterans of both battles present their insights and recollections of these battles and their significance. Paul Stillwell, of the U.S. Naval Institute again provides his expertise as he moderates the sessions. Among the speakers are RAdm Donald "Mac" Showers, USN (Ret) who provides insights into cryptanalysys which helped turn the tide. Also featured is Kename Harada, Japanese Zero Pilot who presents his unique insite into Japan's strategy. Other presenters include veterans of the famed "Torpedo Squadron 8" who answer questions about tactics and technology. This symposium offers a wealth of information for any World War Two student, with commentary from the men who were there. Just click on the image for a larger view so you can see the entire program.
